My company made a warehouse full of money in spite of itself
We had the entire worldwide marketplace all to ourselves
We obsoleted the competition with the only product of its kind
So nobody cared about giving the marketing department any share of mind
Management said the R&D group was the sole contributor to growth
The marketing department was only there for show
Management didn't need any kind of marketing help
Cause they thought our product was so damn good it would sell itself
Our management bragged they'd created a monopoly situation
Until the arrival of all those cheap imitations
After awhile a few more competitors came on in
The boss said its no big deal our product's so damn good we can't help but
win
Then market share began to drop and drop and drop and drop
The boss said we'd better come up with somethin to make these losses stop
We said it was time to break down and make an investment in promotion
But the budget that required caused one hell of a huge commotion
We begged and pleaded with them to let us please try something new
Management didn't have an idea or a clue as to what the hell to do
The boss said good products alone are what drive the bottom line
Marketing's just an expensive waste of time
After a bunch more of this the company finally failed
That's when the boss told me to buy an ad p; for an inventory liquidation
sale!
